In an ideal world, every woman would enter pregnancy physically and emotionally prepared for the wonderful life developing in her womb. In reality, that is often not the case. Let’s turn our attention first to the physical.
- Preparation for pregnancy should begin in childhood. Girls should maintain a balanced diet and strive for fitness. Never should they use alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, mercury or a host of other harmful substances. Of course, such perfection is fantasy. However, just a few short months of proper preparation during pregnancy can produce significant beneficial effects on the outcome.
- First comes diet; as the old adage says, we are what we eat, and so are our babies! Pitch the junk—sugar, fried and processed foods, chips and dips, heavy sauces—and replace it with healthy nutritional eating habits. Fruits and vegetables, lean meats, baked and broiled chicken, fish and veal. Next comes exercise. Start slowly, but consistently: walking, running, jazzercise, aerobic classes designed to accommodate the special needs of pregnant women. Physically conscious women reap major rewards and avoid many complications common to pregnancy.
- Our goal is for each patient to have an individualized plan with careful emphasis on the new mother’s entire life style. At the initial visit for care during pregnancy, we perform a complete physical along with an ultrasound to determine the status of the pregnancy. Our male and female Ultrasonologists have many years of clinical experience. The latest in laboratory technology assures healthy outcomes for both mother and child.
- Dr. Praveena is available to you while you are in labor and gives you, the patient, a tremendous sense of security. Every birth is magical, but health care takes rational thought, intuitive insight, and many years of scientific and experiential knowledge. Dr. Praveena and her staff will provide the care you need to make your magical moments of pregnancy, labor and birth happy, memorable, and safe.
